Dear Creative Diary,
I gotta be honest—I did not see this plot twist coming.
I planned ten weeks of whimsical, wonderful, wildly creative Wednesdays for kids this summer. TEN. WEEKS. Of crafts that don’t suck, projects that don’t require (much) macaroni or patience with glitter, and ideas designed to make your kid feel like a genius. I imagined paint-splattered hands, proud little faces, and parents, grandparents, and other caregivers thanking me for two blessed hours of midweek peace.
But as of today? Not a single kid. Not one sticky-fingered mini human signed up to get their creativity on.
I don’t get it. Did the artsy kids all flee to camp? Are their parents allergic to joy? Has “summer fun” been replaced by… scrolling TikTok in the AC?
I find myself staring at the empty signup list like it’s going to blink first. It doesn’t. Just sits there, all smug and unbothered. I, however, am very bothered.
But here’s the thing—I’m not giving up. I’ve got a rainbow of paints and beads on standby. I’ve got a collection of Sharpies and enough kid-friendly scissors to start a small revolution. Maybe they don’t know what they’re missing yet. Maybe someone will stumble upon this and say, “Oh! This is exactly what my kid needs.” Maybe it only takes one.
And if not? Well, I guess I’ll be over here crafting tiny dragons by myself like the glorious weirdo I am. But still—ugh.

Come on, universe. Toss me a kid or two.
