Creative Jam Now Has… Jam!

Why Yes, We Do Sell Jam—And Here’s Why It Totally Makes Sense

At some point in the life of The Creative Jam, after I’d explained for the hundredth time that “no, we’re not a jelly shop,” I started asking myself the real question:

Wait… why don’t we sell jam?

After all, we’re called Creative Jam—and I chose that name with purpose. So yes, we now sell actual, edible, spread-it-on-toast jam. But before you think I’ve veered off into breakfast food branding, let’s rewind a little and talk about the origin story.

Creative Jam now has... Jam!

The Word “Creative” Wasn’t an Accident

Here’s the thing: I could’ve called this place “The Artist’s Cabin” or “The Studio Retreat” or something equally artsy. But the word artist makes a lot of people shrink a little.
It sounds exclusive. Fancy. Like something you’re only allowed to claim if you’re featured in a museum or sipping wine at a gallery opening while someone asks about “the emotional tension in your brushwork.”

But art? Art is subjective.
And creativity? Creativity is for everyone.

You can be creative with watercolors or woodworking. With glitter or gouache. With paper, thread, upcycled driftwood, or stuff you pulled out of the recycling bin. You don’t need permission. You don’t need a degree. You definitely don’t need a fan base.

You just need space. And time. And maybe someone to hand you a hot glue gun and say, “Go for it.”

And Then… There’s the “Jam” Part

Sure, part of it is because we’re right next to the Log Jam restaurant, which has been confusing GPS systems and hungry newcomers for years.

But the word jam is magic. In music, a jam is when people come together to make something unplanned and alive. In improv, it’s when performers jump on stage and spark off each other. In art, it’s… exactly what we’re doing here.

A jam is messy. Spontaneous. Collaborative. Full of feeling.
It might not be perfect, but it’s honest. And that’s what happens in this cabin every single day.

So How Did Real Jam End Up in the Mix?

Because people kept asking.
Repeatedly.
Sincerely.
Often with toast in hand.

So one day, I finally said, “Fine. If we’re going to be the Creative Jam, we’re going to fully commit.” And the universe responded by sending me Dottie from Argyle (Dottie’s Delectables), a magical jam wizard I met at the Thistle Festival. She had tables filled with stunning, delicious jars of small-batch goodness—plus the most beautiful gluten-free cookies this side of the Hudson.

Now, Creative Jam proudly stocks two sizes of her jams and jellies, in raspberry, strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, peach, and our absolute favorite flavors:

  • Spiced Blueberry (like a hug in a jar)
  • Strawberry Balsamic (fancy without trying too hard)

And yes, jam-making classes are coming—because why not add a little culinary creativity to the mix?

TL;DR: Why We Sell Jam

Because the name isn’t just clever. It’s a mission.
To say: you are creative.
To say: this is a space for everyone.
To say: sometimes art looks like a painting, and sometimes it looks like a beautifully labeled mason jar of fruit magic.

So the next time someone asks if we sell jam, I smile and say, “Yes, we do. Would you like a spoon or a sketchbook?”

Until next time,
Stay sticky, stay spontaneous, stay creative.
